General Questions
How do I find the right tires for my vehicle?
First, look at the sticker on the inside drivers side door. This will tell you what tire comes stock with your vehicle. You can also look at the physical tire on your vehicle. It should have a sequence of numbers that look like this: 205/55R16. If you use different rims for Summer and Winter, make sure you check the size, as some people downsize in the winter. You can also put your year, make and model into our website to get more options! However you chose to find your size, you should always want to confirm with your physical vehicle before purchasing, as what came stock may not be what's on your vehicle now!
What tire size do I need?
Your stock size is always the best to use! However if you are driving a low profile tire, it's best to get a higher profile for the winter, which helps against broken belts. You're always welcome to give us a call for downsizing options!
Do I need to replace all four tires at once?
While it's ideal to replace all four tires together for optimal performance, it's not always necessary. For all-wheel drive vehicles, we recommend replacing all four. For other vehicles, we recommend replacing at least two tires at a time on the same axle.
Is the tire a P rated or LT rated?
Most tire sizes begin with a "P" in front of the size, which stands for Passenger Rated. This is a standard rating for most passenger cars, SUVs and vans.
Truck tire sizes can start with a P (Passenger rated) or LT (Light Truck rated). The LT rating can range from load range C, D or E. The additional plies on LT rated tires are designed to reinforce the sidewalls to prevent blow outs when driving with additional weighted loads or towing additional weight, driving on gravel/dirt roads where things such as rocks and debris may potentially puncture the rubber, as well as constructions sites where nails and other sharp objects may be present. It is always recommended that anyone driving in an off-road environment or doing heavy hauling/towing with their truck go with an LT tire.
I've never heard of some of your brands? Who makes them? Where are they made? Why are your prices so much cheaper than other retailers?
Antares/Roadcruza/Arivo are massive global companies, manufacturing their product directly out of China, and combined produce over 30 million tires a year. These companies distribute all over the world. The Tire Man introduced Antares to the East Coast of Canada in 2014, followed by Roadcruza in 2017 and Arivo in 2019.
The Tire Man has a number of commercial dealers throughout the Maritimes selling the Antares, Arivo, Roadcruza brands, however customers will not find this brand in any major retail stores in the Maritimes such as Walmart, Canadian Tire, Costco, etc. The Tire Man purchases all tires in bulk, direct from manufacturers. Because of the volume of tires being purchased, this allows for The Tire Man to have sole distribution of the brands and to offer unbeatable prices to retail customers. We are committed to offering high quality products at an exceptional value.
Ordering & Payment
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept e-transfer, visa, mastercard and cash. We also offer payment options like Sezzle for qualified customers at online checkout!
Can I modify or cancel my order?
Depending on the time of year, your order may already be processed, in which case we cannot modify or cancel your order. Please contact our customer service team immediately if you need to make changes.
Do you offer price matching?
Yes! We offer price matching on identical products. Contact us with proof of the lower price and we'll match it.
Are deposits left by customers reserving stock refundable?
Deposits are non-refundable. If a deposit is left by a customer, The Tire Man team guarantees the stock this customer is asking to be reserved for them will be available for them. There is no exception to this rule, whether a deposit was left 2 days ago, or 4 weeks ago. We have promised to reserve inventory for the customer and therefore have not sold the inventory to other customers who may want the product, and for this reason the deposit will not be refunded to a customer who has changed their mind on a product. The minimum deposit required to reserve a set of four tires is $50, and less than four tires is $25. We allow inventory to be reserved under a deposit for up to 30 days, after which time if the customer has not contacted us to purchase the product out right, the inventory is no longer held for them.
Shipping & Delivery
How long does shipping take?
We do our best to get tires out as fast as possible! Typical lead time is 1 business day to process and 1-3 business days for delivery from the courier. During our high-volume seasons April – June and September – December we and the courier experience larger volumes than normal. During the high-volume times we can process your order in 1-3 business days and expect delivery between 2-5 business days after processing. We always do our best to go beyond expectations and are working diligently to get as many orders out as possible each day!
All orders must be paid for in full before shipping.
You'll receive tracking information once your order ships.
Do you ship internationally?
Currently, we only ship within the Maritimes.
What is your Shipping Policy?
We offer low-cost shipping throughout Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI, and Newfoundland. If no shipping options show up upon checkout online, please call us for further details on shipping options. To keep shipping low for customers, we cover a portion of your shipping charges, however any further shipping needs after original purchase (for example an exchange) are subject to full shipping rates.
Warranties & Returns
What is your return policy?
The Tire Man offers a 7 day exchange policy for any products that we keep in stock and have not been mounted on rims. The Tire Man does not offer refunds, however a customer can opt for a credit on file for 30 days, which is also transferrable, if they are returning a product and another option is not available in stock at that time. For products that are special ordered in for a customer direct from vendors, such as rims or tires that we do not keep in stock, there is a 20% restocking fee. For products that have shipped to a customer, the customer can either make arrangements to have the product returned to The Tire Man, or The Tire Man will credit back the portion paid, minus applicable shipping costs associated with the original order.
What warranties come with the tires?
All tires come with the manufacturer's warranty. Please see our Warranty page or contact us for specific warranty information.
What if I receive damaged tires?
Please inspect your tires upon delivery. If you receive damaged tires, contact us immediately with photos. We'll arrange for replacement at no cost to you.
Installation
The Tire Man does not offer installations. We have a few recommended shops that we deal with locally for those customers picking up at our retail store, and we can provide customers with their contact information so they can coordinate an appointment for an installation.
